In the midst of Rome, Italy, lived a courageous girl named Diana. She specialized in anything to do with nature. She grew plants, watered her garden, and even took care of wild animals. She was the always successful, most helpful person in town, and pure pleasure to be around. On the other hand, in this same small town lived with her sister Hecate, who grew up the total opposite of Diana. Hecate was dreadful, always in trouble and brought more stress to her family than anyone could deal with.
So, of course, there came that one day when Diana said, "Enough is enough!"
Red, orange, and yellow leaves started to fall from trees and it market the time for Diana to open her orchard. Customer’s would come hours before she opened and wait anxiously to could buy her goods: doughnuts, apple cider, chocolate-dipped apples. She had everything.
One day, Diana came to the black rusted gate to let customer’s in when she found Hecate waiting by the sign.
“For years you had nothing to do with my orchard!” screamed Diana.
“I know," said Hecate, "you see, I kind of need something to do in my spare ti—”
“Instead of ignoring your family for 15 years! We don’t even know what you were doing half of the time. For example, where were you at Dad’s funeral?!” screamed Diana.
“Fine Diana, then I will find my own job without your help.” And in that moment, Hecate turned, flipped her body the other way to show her annoyance, and came up with a plan. Hecate decided to steal her sister’s powers along with the other gods.
Diana was very angry at her sister, but she had to go on with her day.
Later that night when the sun started to set, Hecate came back, but this time, she held a blue staff in her right hand.
“Look at all of the power I have now!” Hecate said with credence, and she strick down every customer walking out of Diana's orchard.
“I don't think that’s a good idea—” said Diana in a more mellow voice then her sister’s.
Her sister didn’t listen. Diana had mustered up so much emotion that she reached for her sister’s staff, but unfortunately Hecate briskly pulled away. Hecate struck Diana with the power from the staff and a bright luminescence floated above them and, suddenly, a shadowy figure grabbed Hecate.
When Diana was conscious again, she woke up and Hecate was gone and the staff lay cracked on the ground, black and powerless.
All of the people Hecate struck turned back to the shape they were in before. Trees started to sway and some even say that people who followed through and did bad deeds for Hecate turned into trees, and their swaying is their calling for help. To this day, it’s important to listen to people around you, and consider taking their advice.
