The 2017 Newbery selection. This is one beautifully executed book and one that every student should explore. The concept is strong and the language screams delicious—the use of literary devices, characterization, pacing, plot twists are applause worthy. 

This novel shares the story of one boy, Mason Buttle, who has a problem. The whole town believes he killed his best friend.  This novel is ideal for lower Lexile readers who prefer a novel to a graphic novel.

Two brothers, both black, but one darker-skinned, discover a path to equality that takes them to the back gym of the local YMCA to learn fencing from a legendary champion.

BEST, BEST EVER book for the study of PLOT. Readers enters crystal clear exposition: Will, a crime scene, and a huge problem: does he really have to avenge his brother's death—or might he choose to live by his own rules. The rising action is structured in descending elevator floors as the reader has 67 seconds to make up his mind.
