Volunteering Policies

1. Attendance Policy:

1.1. Punctuality: All student volunteers are expected to arrive on time for their scheduled volunteering opportunities. Promptness is essential to ensure a smooth and effective operation of our programs.

1.2. Communication: In the event of unavoidable absence or tardiness, students must inform the designated point of contact (Community Outreach Representative) at least 48 hours in advance. In the event of an emergency, students are still required to contact the Community Outreach Representative. If a student misses two volunteer events without informing us, they will be unable to participate in any other SABS volunteer events for one semester. If this happens for two semesters in a row, they will be banned for one year.

1.3. Commitment: When signing up for a volunteering opportunity, students are expected to honor their commitment and fulfill the assigned responsibilities for the entire duration of the event or project.

1.4. Record Keeping: Volunteers are required to maintain accurate records of their volunteering hours if they want to obtain a graduation cord.

2. Conduct Policy:

2.1. Professionalism: While representing SABS, student volunteers must conduct themselves in a professional and respectful manner at all times. They should treat fellow volunteers, staff, program participants, and the general public with courtesy and kindness.

2.2. Dress Code: Volunteers should adhere to the dress code specified for each volunteering opportunity. The attire should be neat, appropriate, and in line with SABS and the host's guidelines.

2.3. Confidentiality: Volunteers may come across sensitive and confidential information during their service. They must respect the privacy of individuals and refrain from discussing or sharing such information with unauthorized parties.

2.4. Non-Discrimination: The Student Association of Biomedical Sciences is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion. Volunteers are expected to treat all individuals, regardless of their background, with fairness and respect.

2.5. Substance Use: The use of alcohol, illegal substances, or any intoxicating substances during volunteering activities is strictly prohibited.

2.6. Conflict Resolution: If a volunteer encounters any issues or conflicts during their service, they are encouraged to communicate with the designated supervisor or coordinator for resolution in a respectful and constructive manner.

2.7. Safety: Volunteers must adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols established by SABS and the host of the event. They should promptly report any safety concerns or incidents to the appropriate authorities.

2.8. Social Media: Volunteers are advised to be mindful of their social media presence and refrain from sharing any content that may be detrimental to the reputation of SABS or its partners. As a rule, do not post any pictures that include non-volunteers unless you have obtained permission.

Failure to comply with the attendance and conduct policies may result in the termination of a student's volunteer position with the Student Association of Biomedical Sciences. By adhering to these policies, student volunteers contribute to a positive and meaningful experience for all involved and help create a lasting impact on our community.
