Travel awards are divided into six different cycles and are open to all students of the School of Biomedical Sciences who need to attend events during those months. You are eligible to receive one travel award per academic calendar year. There are two types of travel awards: Research Presentation and Professional Development. The six cycles are as follows:
December-January
February-March
April-May
June-July
August-September
October-November
Research Presentation: To be eligible for the Research Presentation Travel Award, the applying individual must be presenting original research at a conference or other recognized event. Research presentation must be the primary purpose for travel when applying for this award.
Professional Development: To be eligible for the Professional Development Travel Award, the applying individual must provide substantial information about the event (i.e. a training course, workshop, career development, etc.). Professional development must be the primary purpose for travel when applying for this award.
Eligibility: Eligible applicants must be in good academic standing with UNT Health. Decisions for each award will be made by at least three reviewers, at least 6 weeks prior to the conference date, using a scoring rubric. The applicant will receive the travel award if the final average score is at least 60% of the points.
If the budget permits, there can be more than two winners for Research Presentation and more than one winner for Professional Development. If the budget is limited, the applicant(s) with the highest score(s) will be awarded the travel award.
The award winner(s) will be informed via email promptly after a decision is made and be given 7 days (if time permits) to submit the Travel Award Recipients Report Form.
