I was assaulted on the 28th of November by a person I don't remember while I was walking home. I suffered a skull fracture and severe bleeding. I don't hold any memory of any of it though. I woke up after my coma in Royal Perth. I had amnesia, I had lost a lot of abilities I used to have. For example, normal Speech, Swallowing, as well as more complex things such as playing the flute guitar and singing which were passions of mine.
I couldn't maintain balance either if I tried to walk by myself I would fall over and the nursing staff would put an alarm under my mattress to alert them if I got up by myself. I relied heavily on a lot of prayers and if I had visitors I would ask them to use their phones and listen to some of my old music on Spotify or youtube I have always found it very soothing. ( A song with my old band is below )
I remained in Royal Perth for two months and then eventually my referral to Fiona Stanley came through and that was enjoyable for me but also caused some fear for me because I was so weak.
I was only in Fiona Stanley for a month, which was much shorter than I expected. I began therapy there, such as OT Physio etc. My physio Gia diagnosed me as having an issue with my balance crystals which was such a blessing to hear. She had to get approval from the doctors to perform a physio maneuver over me.
My other physio Monique performed the maneuver herself during my session with her a few days later. It was very interesting. It felt like I was having my head thrown around a tiny bit, and I felt very dizzy. They can see the "vertigo", which is caused by the dislodged balance crystals from when I hit my head very hard.
After the Manoeuvre and the physio session, I was taken back to my room and told to keep my head up for some time with an extra pillow.
She left me to rest and said I should feel like a new person the next day. The following day I could walk again without feeling like I was going to fall over suddenly. It was a bit frightening at first because I was so weak. But I was discharged the same month in February 2022.
I returned home at that point, and now all I had to deal with was the amnesia and things I had lost. Such as my computer password. Playing the flute. Being able to sing. I have got all of those back now. If you wish to know how I got them back, please contact me on the SABIR group on WhatsApp.
