Ulysses in Wonderland is a story about modern man. He has lost .he is seeking his own land. In this performance we are watching four dimensions of one moment, four points of views in four different sides of the space. The moment of passing Sirens, the moment of encounter with two authorities, two thoughts, two sights. Homer believed that Ulysses was victorious and had passed Sirens but Kafka thinks that Sirens defeated Ulysses by their silence. The third point of view, our point of view, is contemporary human being’s sight. Who is the real winner?! … The fourth sight is contemporary woman’s sight! Is she waiting for her man? Is she concerning? Is she waiting for a hero? This story is about skepticism and relativism of modern human! The story of his contradictory thoughts. This story is the story of one moment of our lives.
There was a great face of Ulysses hanging as a ship. The other side of the ship was Ulysses's face .
Performance description
There were Introduction and conclusion … before and after the performance: a map of Ulysses journey and some sketch of his sailboat on the wall, his crystal face with three little fish in it, a little musical instrument and a tiny compass on a table. Performance performed in a black box, audience were free to turn around the installation, in each side they could watch one story: First side: Homer’s story; singing (paintings, sculptures, writings: Ulysses was a hero and passed Sirens proudly while they were trying to seduce him by their singing.) Second side: Kafka’s story; silence (paintings, sculptures, writings: Sirens did not sing. And It was Ulysses illusion which he is hearing their voices… they actually were silent while he was passing them.) Third side: Penelope (Actress/drawer: she was a drawer sitting in a corner of the box and was drawing her imagination) Fourth side: my story (media: a doctor is talking about some kind of disease which happens in human’s ear, and patient experience some special voices in his ear such as buzz or scream and… sometimes these are just illusion, but, sometimes brain make them itself and they are real, as if, somebody become close to the ear of the patient, he can actually hear the voice.)
Ulysses's face was full of illustrations which tells his stories and his thoughts.
