Burning house
A collaborative performance in three parts, first part was a presentation about Story of Siavash in Shahname by Dr. Shiva Massoudi, second part a piece made by Nazanin Mehraeen and the last part Burning House performance by Saba Saadat.Burning House is based on Siavash mythological character, a story of suffering and pain, a reminder of the lost nature of Iran.This performance was a fictional narrative based on a true story. A lonely crane after the extinction of its flock and the loss of its mate, returns to the Caspian Lake from Siberia every year. The play was based on this real environmental narrative. The texts is a series of monologues of the crane. The bird turns into Simorgh* at the end of the performance.
*Simorgh is a legendary bird in Iranian literature, which is created from the combination of thirty birds and the union of their souls. It is a wise bird and a symbol of wisdom and victory.
