About the Show

THE BIG ONE is a devised, experimental performance exploring bombardment, the struggle to connect, and the desire to stiffen in conflict in order to remain unchanged. Through traffic jams of tangled bodies on bar stools and mumbled dialogue spoken through mouths of melting ice cream, this interdisciplinary performance explores the absurdity of passivity. Sharing formal qualities with contemporary theatre, collage, and sound art – This surreality of this performance investigates the ways we pacify discomfort, turn inward, and get stuck. This work asks: what happens to the friction that we resist?
