Testing the Silent Loop
As there is no USB connection for monitoring you do not get any software. In my rig I have setup the pump to FULL SPEED (2200 rpm) and the fans to be controlled by PWM.
update: I have now set the pump to auto adjust, there is no need for the pump to run at full speed on my rig as it does not get very hot...this saves power and will probably make the pump last longer.
After 7 years the AIO pump seems to have a problem. My PC started to overheat and stopped booting up. A check in the BIOS showed CPU hitting 80C so time for action. I took radiator off so that I could top up the cooling liquid in the pump. This did not help and had to resort to putting the tower PC on it's side which works fine. Looks like there is not enough liquid in the loop for when it is standing up. I will take off AIO completely and check it out outside of the PC.
I have ordered a BE QUIET! Pure Rock Slim which hopefully will do the job. It will be interesting to compare the 2 cooling systems. At present with the PC on its side Core Temp is showing 30C. The new BE QUIET! cooler is keeping the PC cooler than the AIO so I am quite pleased with that.
so a week on from the new cooler and all is well. I took apart the old AIO and there was a lot of liquid missing. So the unit served me well for about 7 years but the new cooler does not have any failing parts (just the fan, which would take 5 minutes to replace) and is working well.
Not sure if I would buy AIO in a new rig... a more convenient way of topping up cooler liquid would be my first check point. I've seen newer units with a refill hole in the radiator which is much better but not perfect.
I can confirm the Silent Loop AIO 280mm fits the AM4 socket.
