During my first placement with the North Syracuse Central School District, I completed a full Adapted Physical Education experience. This opportunity allowed me to grow both professionally and personally, as I gained valuable knowledge, developed my teaching skills, and built meaningful connections with my students.
I was able to use my creativity to design engaging and inclusive activities that allowed all students to learn and actively participate. Over the course of my eight-week placement, I developed and taught a variety of units, including Winter Olympics, Basketball, Floor Hockey, Drums Alive, and Fitness. I also gained experience working across different grade levels, as I was placed at both Gillette Road Middle School and Smith Road Elementary School. I was able to meet and learn from many different professionals and build connections that I will have throughout my future teaching career.
Here is an example of the lesson slides I used during my first placement. Each slideshow included a clear schedule, lesson goals, warm-up activities, instructional content, and assessments, all designed to be interactive and engaging for students.
For my second placement, I taught 6th–8th grade students in the Liverpool Central School District. This experience has exposed me to a wide range of athletic and academic abilities across different classes, requiring me to consistently adapt my lessons and instructional strategies to ensure all students are able to understand, engage, and be successful.
