Welcome to my Professional Portfolio

My name is Ryan Watrous, and I am from Hastings, New York. I have wanted to be a Physical Education teacher since I was little and I graduated from the State University of New York at Cortland in May 2026. Throughout my time at SUNY Cortland, I have been actively involved in the Alliance of Physical Education Majors Club, being an active member and serving as the Health 4+1 representative. I am currently starting my Master's in Kinesiology with a focus in Adapted Physical Education at the University of New Hampshire. Additionally, I am a member of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (NYS AHPERD), the Society of Health and Physical Education (SHAPE America), and the Online Physical Education Network (OPEN). 

Physical activity has always been a core part of who I am. I engage in it daily, not just because I love it, but because I believe in its power to transform lives. As a future physical educator, my mission is to help students see that physical education is just as important as any other subject, a key to lifelong health, confidence, and success. 

Inspired by my incredible teachers, such as my mother and coaches that I had growing up, I aim to be a positive and motivating force in my students' lives. I am committed to creating an inclusive environment where every student feels valued, capable, and excited to move. 

By focusing on physical literacy, teamwork, and personal growth, I hope to empower students to build healthy habits, develop resilience, and discover the joy of lifelong movement.
