I am not in it to win it. More in it for the ride, the experience, the unknown, and the beauty. I am currently focused on equity and self-actualization through the lens of my place of work, an academic makerspace. There I see people bond and merge world views and matters of concern as they create and problem-solve. They offer help through the small stuff and recruit others in effort to tackle bigger concerns. It's real cool.
Makerspaces have evolved to much more than what can be described or the name implies. They are spaces of generative healing and become whatever the community needs to refresh their soul. I recently toured a campus in California with many a makerspace. They had a dance makerspace. Students only. They could drop in and dance at any time. No rules, only dancing. Fantastic. Let's do that.
The MACL program at MCAD has helped me identify and name this phenomenon, relational leadership, and provided a plethora of future actions to try and/or be aware of in pursuit of expanding our communal support of each other. I am super grateful for Dianes Ragdale’s curation of this program and encouragement of stay. I m grateful for all our instructors that put time into facilitating our journey. And I’m grateful to have had the chance to learn with and experience my fellow Mackerels. Thank you all.
This website is a compendium of my MACL activities throughout the program. A deep sleuth of the available options fingered Google as the lowest barrier to entry. I now know what not to do. Site two will be better and site three will be right on. Until then I’ll settle for a site that works for me.
Initially, this intro had an Assessment and Goals lean. I’ve never been one for goals but I’m all in on purpose. If not for being my first foray into web development, this collage of coursework may have been created with the purpose of enticing the masses to participate in a relationally led experiment. As is, its purpose is to remind me to stay this journey of relational leadership. To evolve the journey, share it, and sculpt it into something that works for my community, and maybe yours too. It is a resource for me to draw on and guide me back to a moment where I learned other ways of being. Most of the pages in the Mackerel Course tab are linked to the entire assignment and my responses can be quickly accessed through the document outline tab on the left-hand side of the google docs page. The Creative Capstone page is a critical conversations reflection that fed into my capstone project and thought leadership piece. Enjoy!
