"Despite being incredibly easy to read (in the prose sense) this is probably the most difficult to understand VN I have ever encountered. It took me months of reflection personally to fully understand even some of the major plot points, and I've encountered many other readers of SakuUta who missed absolutely massive plot points as well until having discussed the novel with others. This VN is extremely subtle in its exposition, never telling you what's going on, but rather hinting at it and providing you with the tools you need to figure it out (it is somewhat similar to Umineko in this regard, but perhaps more subtle, and here you don't have a manga to fall back on). Possibly one would have to be an actual artist or curator in order to fully understand SakuUta. SCA-Di did his research when planning out this VN, and it shows. SakuUta is a masterpiece. Moreover, due to plot-related reasons, this VN can only truly be understood and enjoyed in Japanese; readers in any other language would miss so much of the plot that they would not be able to comprehend even some of the core messages and plot points of the novel."
