Taking a Leave of Absence/Withdraw

MBA students can take up to 3 semesters off in a row. After this time, a student will be administratively withdrawn from the program. Students do not need to notify their advisor. After this one year absence, students will need to meet with their academic advisor to apply for re-admission. Students will be required to fill out several forms, a registration form, degree completeness form, and pay a $50 application fee. Students who want to drop coursework and withdraw from all classes during the semester while enrolled for courses must do so by filling out the withdraw form linked below. All classes will be dropped with a grade of W and students are responsible for payment.

Students withdrawing from all academic coursework must fill out the withdrawal form on the MBA website.

A withdraw at Rutgers University is withdrawing from all classes. Dropping a class and receiving a grade of W is dropping a singular course while still being enrolled in at least one other course. A withdraw and drop follow two different deadlines. Please check the registration calendar on our website each semester to know add/drop and withdraw dates.
