Christians E-Crow

The E-Crow is an electric version of my own design 3.2 m wingspan slope soarer, originally built in 1999.

The electric version features an Elios F5B7 brushless motor with a Reisenauer 5:1 planetary gear box.

For simplicity, I decided to build a box-type plywood fuselage pod with a carbon fiber tail boom.

The canopy was constructed following the stringer method.

I fabricated an aluminium motor mount, which is laminated into the front bulk head.

The wing is a two piece balsa wood built-up affair, based on the Eppler 374 airfoil, with carbon fiber spars.

Two aluminium wing joiners.

It has ailerons and flaps, balsa sheeting from the leading edge to the rear spar, and the exposed ribs are cap-stripped

A light weight V-tail, built using the zig-zag method, is bolted to the tailboom. The colour scheme is similar to the original Crow, with a slightly lighter shade of yellow
