Patrons act as the gods of RPGverse - there's a lot of them, each with their own personality, style of godmodding and hang-ups. The one pictured above is the Patron of Space. Pretty self-explanatory, they created and now oversee the physical side of RPGverse's planet/universe and make sure no other Patron is sneaking something in that'll destroy everything. Space, Time, Life and Death are the head honchos of the squad, although it is often said that 'every Patron is unique and required in their own way.'
While there's the Patrons of Really Broad Categories, there are also highly specific ones; the Patron of Bread is quite popular among the citizens of RPGverse, while the Patron of Megabeasts is less so. When there's so many options available it's only natural for cults to form. That said, the cults that worship specific Patrons are seen as odd, because the influence of each Patron is obvious in the world - they literally exist, and can be directly contacted through the aid of an Oracle. Most inhabitants of RPGverse will at minimum pray to the Patron of their class, Food, Water, Life and sometimes if they're afraid of dying anytime soon, the Patron of Death (who's a nice guy and is somewhat depressed over the fact that he's responsible for killing off his co-workers' hard work).
Another side-effect of having real, communicating gods is the bickering and fighting and grudges being held. The feud that's had the most impact on the world is between the Patron of Huma and the Patron of Viël, two races in RPGverse. The Patron of Viël decided to one-up the Huma by making their race 7ft tall glorified fox people with a natural disposition to magic, with huge spiked tails that completely demolished any Huma they came across. Unsurprisingly, the Patron of the Universe smacked that idea down and made the races slightly more balanced. While the Huma and Viël get along quite well in reality, their Patrons are considerably hostile towards each other and now get seated apart at the daily God Meetings as a precaution.
