The one thing that RPGverse really needed was a class dedicated to learning. Scholars are exactly what their name suggests. People don't stay Scholars forever, or at least they shouldn't, instead moving on to other classes that they pick up over time. Because of their passive ability to learn, many end up studying cool classes like Necromancy or Chemistry. Others just transition into Merchants, but we don't talk about those.
You don't want to slap a Scholar in armor and send him off into battle unless he's studied up on some other class first. There are worse choices, but a Scholar isn't extraordinary in any way stat-wise and would be an easy target. Keeping them holed up in the boardroom with a map and a piece of paper is probably best, so they can analyse and come up with strategies without sharp pointy things being thrown at them.
Scholars are stereotypically smart. Some really love math, while others may be good at recording information. Most support staff in a King's court or other political affiliation will be Scholars, since their natural strengths allow them to be versatile and encourage progression. They're like the engineer without being an engineer - they find solutions. Also they ace whatever education system they're enrolled in.

The MC of the main narrative explored in RPGverse. Allard is a Scholar, assistant to King Tyr, and a mother hen to the rag-tag party he collects throughout his adventures.
