Necromancers are not the evil wizards we envisage them to be; they simply take temporary control of things that are dead. Importantly, they cannot resurrect the dead, they can only bring them ‘back’ (although they are shells with no conscience) and use them as puppets for limited amounts of time. They are also able to do this with animal or plant life, which is often more useful considering how big and strong the fauna of RPGverse can be.
Necromancers are never in the front line, and are usually not around for the first half of a fight. Like scavengers, they pop in later to clean up - in most cases, to make use of the abandoned corpses. The ability to reanimate a corpse is incredibly complex magic and Necromancers are revered for mastering their craft. Most can only sustain a few puppets at a time, for an hour at the longest. These 'zombies' are able to wield weapons and in some cases magic, depending on how strong they were in life.
Unfortunately for them, Necromancers are not able to control the effect of time, which leaves their class surprisingly useless. They aren’t able to reanimate food to make it edible, or bring back loved ones, or stop decomposition. Because of this lack of everyday purpose, it can be hard to know whether the person you’re talking to is a Necromancer if they don’t reveal it specifically in conversation. Those that live outside of the cities are more likely to have corpses at their disposal that they can manipulate to do jobs for them, such as a farmer who uses dead animals to pull their carts until they decompose past the point of functionality.
* Note: Being a Necromancer is not taboo, and their magic is about as strong as a Spiritmaster or Oracle (aka. very). The only real difference in terms of resurrection is that the Patron of Necromancy pissed off the other two and has been banned from authorizing the complete resurrection of the dead.
Euralla Laudata (pictured above right):
Euralla acts as the leader of Lyissa. Born as a Black Mage and specialized at the age of thirteen, Euralla is an anomaly among her people, who naturally gravitate towards the thievery-based classes. She has a tragic past (TL;DR, that's her sister's skull on her scepter) and a no-nonsense attitude, ruling with her tiny iron fist.
Her Necromancy is some of the most advanced in RPGverse. She maintains a library of old tomes that those studying magic have free access to, allowing them to learn obscure and powerful spells that had faded into obscurity over time. It is rumoured that she has knowledge of magic unseen since the Beginning when the Patrons were in direct contact with each of their creations, giving them individual and personal skills/spells.
