FUE Hair Transplant in Dubai
Laser hair transplants are used with some success. To date, laser results have been shown to be inferior to traditional non-laser hair transplantation. For this reason they are not commonly used. HRBR surgeons currently do not consider it advisable to use lasers for hair transplantation.
And stereo microscopes?
Although stereomicroscopes are considered the gold standard because they can achieve a 20% higher yield on donor tapes, only a minority of transplant clinics worldwide use stereomicroscopes.
This is because they are expensive and require more skill and manpower. All of our grafts are made using stereo microscopes. We use the latest Nikon® technology in the form of transmitted light microscopes & FUE Hair Transplant in Dubai , which allow you to see the white hairs during the preparation.
Do I need to test before proceeding?
For patients in whom the cause of hair loss is unknown, it is recommended that they be examined by a dermatological consultant.
After the diagnosis of androgenetic alopecia and the recommendation for a hair transplant, no further examinations are necessary in most cases.
However, we perform preoperative ECGs on all patients undergoing surgery, which exceeds good practice standards. We adhere to the highest standards set by the UK's National Institute for Clinical Excellence in its clinical guide Pre-Surgery: Applying Routine Pre-Surgery to Elective Surgery.
Currently, hair transplants usually take 8-10 hours. This longer operative time may pose a potential risk to the patient's heart due to the possibility of prolonged exposure to adrenaline.
In response to this potential risk, albeit small, we decided to complement the pre-operative evaluation with an ECG, which assesses the overall health of each patient.
The preoperative evaluation of the patient takes place approximately one month before the operation. The patient is assisted by two qualified and experienced hair transplant nurses and a technician.
The evaluation includes taking a detailed medical history, measuring blood pressure, recording the patient's weight, oxygen saturation and any allergies.
The donor area is carefully examined with a Canfield mirror and some hairs are harvested. Hair density is also recorded and groups 1, 2, 3 and 4 are evaluated. During this time any questions or concerns the patient has are discussed. We have now added another element to this routine evaluation: the ECG is carried out with a 12-lead ECG on a Mac 1200 ST with automatic interpretation
All abnormal ECG recordings are sent to a cardiologist who will provide a written report/interpretation and recommend and perform any additional testing required. An interval of one month between the preoperative assessment and the date of surgery allows adequate time for further cardiac assessment without interfering with the planned surgery.
