Above are a few examples of show reels that I can use for reference when I start producing my own show reel. I chose an animation, 2D and 3D art show reel as these are aspects I will be including in my own show reel. From these show reels I learnt each piece should be shown for around 5-10 seconds, the first 5 seconds should be you introducing yourself and the last 5 providing links to where people can find your portfolio and work. In addition I found that show reels should last roughly 1-2minutes depending on the amount of work you have to put into your show reel. On top of this I also learnt that you best piece of work should be shown first as this a piece you really want people to see.
Above is my art station, which includes all the work I will be putting on my show reel. as this is the work I am most proud of and demonstrates my skills the best.
Above is my plan for the show reel. I will use this to make sure I put the work in the right order and but them on the screen for an appropriate time to a achieve the 1.30min length goal. I also put the software I used to create each piece of work to show how I produced each piece of work.
THe screenshots above show the timeline for the first version of my showreel before i ask for feedback, as i plan to revisit my showreel to implement the feedback.. To create an effective showreel i found audio with no lyrics and was relaxing to ensure people focused on the work i was showing. I also played each clip twice to give people a chance to view an animation more than once. I started with my best piece and ended with my models as this is my weakest area. Overall, the initial version of my showreel some effective parts as it show all my work that i am proud of with audio that is not distracting and keeps people interested on your work. Yet it does need some improvement which i plan to implement into the next version. Such as placing the software logo that was used on each clip.

Your music is a good choice, not too distracting and works well with the transitions of the content.
However I would remove some of the duplicate content such as the animations, at the beginning with the fall, and the plague doctors as it can make the showreel feel repetitive. You can then include different pieces with the time you get back if you do this.
I would be tempted to include some information about the software you may have potentially used on some of the slides. Possibly the renders?
You can also fade out the music at the end so it isn't a sudden stop, so I can show you how to fade it in and fade it out with some of the audio effects in premier pro.
I would try play around with the timing of some of the 2D animation transitions too, with the beats/chime? since they are quick transitions I would try and get them closer to this to be more effective.
For your information at the end. try and keep a lot of your information central as this is where your audience eyes will be centered and possibly try keep the font consistent throughout.
Overall nice body of work! Keep it up!
This is the timeline for my showreel after looking at the feedback i gained on the first version of my showreel. Some of the main changes i made in this version was pace my animations as the beat of the audio hits a high point to help with audience engagement. I also implemented the Software logo on each clip to tell people where i made each piece of work. Finally i added some more transitions so it wasn't just constant cuts through the video, as this was what the showreels i looked at during research did.

I like it its come on well Id be tempted you know to show your actual sprites in action within the tower climber game you did, as it was good and it shows your tilesets aswell. Also it shows your sprites in action and how they interact with eachother and the environment. Also Im not sure if it was intentional but I noticed a Maya logo flash in the background at the end of the showreel?
Peer Feedback:
Your showreel is good because the music fits in with the transitions and you have plenty of good work on the showreel. You have also presented your work really well.
Each piece on your reel has a lot of time spent looking at the same thing, which could drop viewer retention. By showing some progress steps of each piece, you could fill out the time without spending too long on each finished piece.
The showreel highlights the best sections of your work and essentially aids with presenting your biggest strengths. Potentially alternate the format slightly to give more playtime to the sections of work that receive less criticism.
You have shown your best work with animation and 3D
Here is the second version of my showreel. THe feedback i gained on this version informed me on an incorrect transition at the end and that i should include footage from the final tower climber game. These improvements will be visible in the 3rd and final version of my showreel below.
Above is my final showreel that is available on youtube. I also made sure to put the link on my artstation to ensure people can access it from there.
