Rory Gallagher Tribute Festival in Japan 2023 (the 9th)

　本日はご来場いただき、誠にありがとうございます。

　「大好きなロリー・ギャラガーの音楽を皆で楽しみたい」という動機から始まったこのトリビュート・フェスティバルですが、お陰様で本年も無事に開催することができました。今回は英国からもバンドをお迎えし、いつも以上に賑やかな会となりそうです。

　ロリー・ギャラガーは1948年にアイルランドで生まれ、1969年に「テイスト」というバンドでメジャー・デビューを果たします。1971年よりソロとしての活動に入りますが、それから1995年に47歳で亡くなるまで、ほぼ休みなくライブ活動を続けてきました。来日公演も4回（1974、75、77、91）ありました。

　これといって大きなヒット曲がない人ですが、亡くなってから30年近く経つにもかかわらずいまだに世界中に沢山のファンがいて、毎年各地で追悼イベントが行われています。また、彼の音楽遺産を継承したロリーの個人事務所も毎年のように様々な音源を発掘しては披露してくれています。

　ギター・ヒーローとして取り上げられることの多い人ですが、楽曲もまた魅力たっぷりです。本日出演の3バンドも、それぞれにロリー愛のこもった演奏を披露してくれるでしょう。どうぞ、ゆっくりとご堪能下さい。

　そして、今、様々な紛争による困難の中にいるロリー・ファンの友人たちにもどうぞ心を向けていただけると幸いです。

Preface (translation from the handout)

    Our tribute festival started with a simple motive of "We want to enjoy the music of favorite Rory Gallagher with everyone." Thanks to everyone, we  are able to hold it successfully in 2023. This year, we welcome musicians from the UK, making the festival even more lively than usual.

     Rory Gallagher was born in Ireland in 1948 and made his major debut in 1969 with the band Taste. He began his solo career in 1971, and from then, he continued to perform live almost non-stop, until his death at the age of 47 in 1995. He performed also in Japan in 1974, 75, 77 and 1991.

     Although he did not have any notable mega hits, he still has many fans all over the world even though nearly 30 years have passed since his death, and memorial events are held in various places every year. In addition, Rory's office, which inherited his musical legacy, discovers and releases various sound sources almost every year.

     He has been often considered as a guitar hero, but also his musical pieces are fully charming. Each of the three bands appearing today will perform them with love for Rory.

     We would appreciate it if you would also turn your hearts to the friends of Rory fans who are currently suffering from hardships caused by conflicts over the world.
