Creating a photomontage using photo editing software programs
The premise of this photomontage was a flyer or advertisement poster for a conference addressing high risk pregnancies.
I used canva to create my photomontage.
All images have alt text added to them.
I wanted to use a fall theme given the current season.
The background image is that of a pregnant lady who seems happy, as pregnancy should be a happy time in one’s life. This image was placed in the background and the image was blurred just enough to not affect the other images added above it. The temperature, contrast and brightness were also adjusted.
The second image was that of a crying baby. The course is about providing care to help women have a healthy pregnancy and deliver healthy babies safely. The use of a baby picture was to emphasize that the goals included safe deliveries. The image was edited by framing it with a circle that has leaves to match the background theme. This picture was cropped to only include the baby’s face and the additional background in this picture was blurred.
The third image was that of a group of physicians in a circle. This was to address who would be the target audience of the conference. The shape of the image was adjusted using the frame tool and then the image was cropped. In addition, the temperature was made a bit cooler to stand out against the warmer background.
Finally, the heading or text was added to provide the necessary information about the image. The text itself was edited by adjusting the font, size and adding shadow. A background box was also added to this text/header.

Reflections:
I do not have much experience with any of these programs and found canva easy to use. A lot of the features that may help further improve the images like BG, magic edit, etc were not available in the regular subscription. I changed my images multiple times as I tried to figure out how to incorporate the images, find what colors and backgrounds go together, how to highlight text over the image and so on. But overall it was a great learning experience and will be very helpful to incorporate for future educational activities.
