Marching Ram Band Schedule

2020 Auditions

All drum major applicants will have to call commands and conduct the ensemble. All section leaders will have to call commands. Color Guard applicants will need to submit a recording of a short performance they have coreographed. All students will have an interview with Mrs. Ayer and past student leaders of the band. Specific job details will be released early February.


2020 Memorial Day Parade

All students in the Marching Band and required to attend the Memeorial Day Parade as a part of their obligation to the ensemble. Rehersals will be on Fridays, starting on April 24th, from 2:30pm-4:30pm. All students must attend at least 2 rehearsals from 4/24 and 5/28 (performance). All student leaders will be expected to work with VCMS students to encourage, and support the middle school participation in the parade.


2020 ORIENTATION

If you are interested in RHS Marching Band for the 2020 season, plan on attending our Orientation on May 28th from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. (time subject to change, please check closer to date) at Rockville High School. Both students and parents should plan to attend. Click here for more info.


2020 Summer Rehearsals

We understand and encourage members to go and enjoy their summer vacation... However, if you are in Vernon, we do expect you to be at summer rehearsals.


Plan to arrive at each practice at least 15 minutes before scheduled time.

These dates and times may be adjusted as needed. Please ask your section leaders for clarification.



2020 Band Camp

Attendance at Band Camp is an absolute requirement for marching band membership. New members who were not aware of band camp dates and have a commitment during this time should speak to Mrs. Ayer. The attendance policy goes into effect August 10.

Unlike previous seasons, students will not be allowed to leave campus during the lunch break, so students should pack lunches and drinks appropriately for the full day.


August 10- New Member School Orientation

August 11-14; August 17-21 with two sessions per day as follows:

  • 8:00 am - 12:00 pm (arrival at 7:45 am)
  • 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm


Week One: August 10-14


8/10:

  • 6:00 pm arrival at front of RHS by flag pole
  • 6:15 pm Introduction and brief tour of school facilities
  • 6:45 pm Meeting in band room for expectations of upcoming weeks and months of season
  • 7:15 pm Booster meeting introducing elected officers for the upcoming season
  • 7:45 pm Q&A and Dismissal


8/11:

  • 8:00 am - 12:00 pm (7:45 am arrival): All Section Leaders (Meeting)
  • 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm (12:45 am arrival): All New Member Practice


8/12-14

  • 8:00 am - 12:00 pm (7:45 am arrival): Full Band & Guard Practice
  • 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm (3:45 pm arrival): Full Band & Guard Practice


Week Two: August 17-21


  • 8:00 am - 12:00 pm (7:45 am arrival): Full Band & Guard Practice*
  • 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm (3:45 pm arrival): Full Band & Guard Practice


*OF COURSE freshmen are excused from am practice for Freshmen Orientation, typically Wednesday


Uniform Distribution *All forms and payments must be made prior to distribution*

  • Monday, 8/17: Junior & Seniors, 12:00 pm; Sophomores, Freshmen 1:00 pm

Uniform distribution takes place in the band hallway (Many parent volunteers will be needed). Students should bring lunch on the day of their fitting so they can eat before, after or while waiting in line to get their uniform.


Friday, 8/21: Sectional Olympics, Family Picnic, and Preview Show!

  • 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm Sectional Olympics
  • 6:00 pm - 6:45 pm Family Picnic
  • 7:00 pm - 7:15 pm Preview Show

Come to the first performance of the season at The Raymond Ramsdell Stadium! This is a preview show for family members, friends, neighbors and alumni. Everyone is invited to have a first peek at the 2020 Marching Ram Band Show! Come and see what the talented members have accomplished during their hard work at band camp. Merchandise, pit crew, chaperone, treasurer, & membership tables will be set up that night (6:00 pm) to answer any questions and take orders.

Home Football Games

Marching Band members rehearse from 2:30-4:45 pm and have dinner and change from 5:00 pm-5:55 pm. Students will all step off at 6:00 pm promptly for the 6:30 pm games.


Alternative times will be announced if there is a schedule change.
