Presentation Video

If you are looking for inspiration or just direction then it might be wise to study the best "message deliverers" of all time. The presentation above has some "good stuff!" Furthermore, it reinforces many of the ideas contained in this site.

This year's science fair will take place both asynchronously and synchronously. The asynchronous aspect of the fair will be highlighted by your presentation video. Your presentation video should be a 3-minute maximum length video that highlights your project. This video should give judges a feel for the work you did and and what you accomplished. Furthermore, this video should give the judge context as they score your display board and help them prepare for the synchronous interviews later on in the fair.

All participants should use the methods outlined in the video above to make a presentation video using the PowerPoint of the science display board they created

Step 1 - Preview the assignment

As you think about who will be listening to your presentation, you might also consider what they want to hear. What will this audience be looking for? What will they value? What will they reward? These may seem like easy and even obvious questions, but deeper thought and closer inspection may reveal unforeseen answers.

Step 2 - Prepare your script

Before you record a video, you should prepare a script. Look at the diagram to the left and triangulate your script's text so that you can effectively get your message across.

  • Strategy - Use the Georgia Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (GJSHS) paper rubric to make an outline of your talking points.

    • Know your audience and make them care.

  • Message - Consider a personal story, an insightful observation and/or an amazing statistic tp really "hook" your audience.

    • Have a hook to get attention!

  • Practice - More polished presentations will likely score better. As you practice your script, make sure to time your efforts. The final video presentation should be no more than 3 minutes.
