Specialty Award Nomination Process

Judges can directly nominate projects for many of the specialty awards that we will award at this year's fair. Nominating a project for a specialty award is easy! Simply click the link on your RocketJudge ballot and let us know who you would like to nominate. Nominated projects will be entered into a special judging session as necessary in order select the ultimate winner(s).

Review the list of specialty awards that we will award based on nominations and be on the lookout for projects that you feel should be honored. If/when you see a project that you wish to nominate while you are judging, please just hit the "Judge Use Only" on the RocketJudge ballot. American Psychological Association Award

The American Psychological Association Education Directorate awards one certificate recognizing outstanding research in psychological science under the category of behavioral and social sciences or any category related to psychology. The recipient of this award will receive a certificate of achievement.



Association for Women Geoscientists

The Association for Women Geoscientists will provide an Award Certificate to a female student whose project exemplifies high standards of innovativeness and scientific excellence in the geosciences. Special consideration will be given to projects that increase the public awareness of the geosciences, illustrate the interdisciplinary nature of the geosciences, &/or promote the sensitivity to the earth as a global system.



NASA Earth Systems Science Award

The NASA Earth Science Award seeks to honor the best project with an Earth system science prospective. The award focuses on design, data collection, and the interview process.



National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Award

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) would like to provide the students at our regional fair an opportunity to be recognized for their research emphasizing NOAA-related science. NOAA’s “Taking the Pulse of the Planet” award is to be given to one middle or high school project selected from among all general award categories whose research emphasizes NOAA’s mission to understand and predict changes in the Earth’s environment and conserve and manage coastal and marine resources to meet our nation’s economic, social, and environmental needs.


Ricoh Sustainable Development Award

Ricoh Corporation would like to provide the students at this regional science fair an opportunity to be recognized for their outstanding efforts in addressing issues of environmental responsibility and sustainable development in their science fair projects. This award goes to the individual or team entry, selected from among ALL the general award categories whose principles and technical innovations offer the greatest potential for increasing our ability to grow environmentally friendly and socially responsible businesses.


Society for In Vitro Biology Award

The Society for In Vitro Biology provides one award for this Regional Fair. It is intended that this recognition be awarded to the most outstanding 11th grade student exhibiting in the areas of plant and animal in vitro biology or tissue culture. The recipient will receive a certificate and a formal letter of congratulations. Additionally, the recipient’s name will be published in the society’s newsletter on their website.

Stockholm Junior Water Prize

The Stockholm Junior Water Prize is the most prestigious international youth award for water science. Those selected as winners at the regional level will enter their projects in the state competition. Among other prizes, each state winner and their science teacher receive an all-expense-paid trip to the national competition. The national winner and their teacher will be awarded a trip to the international competition.


U.S. Agency for International Development

The U.S. Agency for International Development is awarding one Science Fair Champion exhibitor whose project shows potential in impacting international development. Winning students will be receive a certificate and be promoted on the organizations official Facebook and Twitter handles.



US Metric Association Award

The US Metric Association awards a certificate to the project that best demonstrates consistency, variety and the correct use of metrics to measure quantitative observations. The award seeks to recognize the project in which metric measurements were integrally important to the research.



Yale Science and Engineering Association Award

The Yale Science and Engineering Association Inc. wishes to provide one award at this Regional Fair. It is intended that this recognition be award to the most outstanding 11th grade student exhibiting in the areas of Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry.
