Dress for Success

Students presenting at the science fair should be dressed professionally. Of course, the word "professional" has many interpretations and different meanings depending on where you are and what you are doing. With that in mind, below is a list of things to keep in mind as you choose what to wear as you prepare to present at the science fair.

Keep the following in mind as you prepare to present at the science fair

  • Your professional dress choice must conform to the school dress code

  • Jeans and sweatpants are typically not considered professional

  • Shoes should be comfortable, (you are going to be on your feet for a long time) but flipflops, sandals and clogs are not typically considered professional.

The University of Miami published the image above. It gives students a good idea of the type of clothing choices to avoid. We also realize that many students may not have formal suits and coordinated outfits. Please don't stress or spend lots of money on clothes that you may quickly out grow;, just do your best with what you do have.
