Voters of this new political sub-division, Midland Township, carved out of New Barbadoes Township, met for the first time at the Spring Valley Chapel on April 10, 1871. Officials were elected and boundaries were set. With the withdrawal of Paramus on March 2, 1922, Rochelle Park stood alone. Rochelle Park was formed as a township on November 5, 1929, dissolving Midland Township.
