Students who join the team learn a wide variety of both business and STEM skills that they can use within their everyday lives and future careers. Our team is similar to running a small manufacturing business. The team must work together to raise money and pay for our annual costs along with meeting strict deadlines and parameters when building our robot each year. Below are examples of some of skills our team members will learn:
Project Management
Budgeting
Marketing
Fundraising
Social Media
Public Speaking
Engineering
Computer Aided Design (CAD)
Coding
Computer Numerical Control (CNC) manufacturing
3D Printing
Testing
By participating in our program students will learn how to work with others from different cultures, backgrounds, and experiences. Our focus is on how to manage the many day to day priorities members have with family, work, school, and extra-curricular activities. Students also build productive and life-long relationships with mentors and other students they meet from around their community, country, and world. Some of these skills include:
Listening
Speaking
Writing
Time Management
Organization
Negotiation
Priorization
Collaboration
Although participating on our team can be a challenge at times, we try our best to keep things fun! Robovikes celebrates both individual and team accomplishments throughout the season by building a sense of camaraderie. The team partisipates in a variety of school events to create cohesiveness. And the yearly partisipation in competitions builds excitment and a sense of accomplishment among the members, regardmess of a win or a loss. Through this process students find common interests within Robovikes and other teams we meet at competitions.
