In this session, Dr Robert Crammond (Senior Lecturer in Enterprise) highlights key aspects of a PhD and providing helpful tips towards submission. These aspects include: literature review and conceptual framework writing, methodology construction and justification, presentation of findings (qualitative, thematic), considering your thesis' contribution(s) to knowledge, and general guidance concerning structure of front and back matter to the thesis document.
In this session, Dr Robert Crammond (Senior Lecturer in Enterprise) emphasises a critical aspect of the PhD thesis: determining and explaining its contribution to knowledge. Findings and analytical techniques, along the doctoral journey, are discussed towards the theoretical, practical, and policy-driven contributions evident within PhD-level research. Examples of contributions to knowledge are presented, and 10 helpful tips concerning the subsequent thesis conclusion, implications, and recommendations are also given.
In this session, Dr Robert Crammond (Senior Lecturer in Enterprise) highlights the qualitative strategy within research investigation and collecting data using exploratory methods. This includes discussing interviews, focus groups, case studies, and ethnographic methods. Also considered is the potential to include qualitative methods within a multi or mixed methodology and appreciating the role of the researcher in relation to researched contexts, confirming a research sample, and understanding objectivity and subjectivity stances in research.
In this session, Dr Robert Crammond (Senior Lecturer in Enterprise) discusses thematic analysis, as a valid and reliable way to analysing qualitative research data. An appropriate tool to analysing interviews and focus groups, etc, the thematic technique is explained, and an example is given using a multi-step approach.
