Safe Families for Children (locally in partnership with Patrick Henry Family Services and 127 Place)| Patrick Neff, pneff@patrickhenry.org | 434-376-2006 | Safe Families for Children provides struggling families with an alternative to foster care where their children will be safe and loved until they get back on their feet. Volunteer Host Families are recruited from a large network of faith communities to care for children on a temporary basis. Parents receive support in a number of ways, in order to help reunite their families as soon as possible.

HopeTree Family Services (also known as Virginia Baptist Children’s Home and Family Services): 860 Mt. Vernon Lane Salem, 24153 | PO Box 849, Salem, 24153 | 540-389-5468 | HopeTree Family Services provides Christian residential, educational, and support services to at-risk children and youth, and to adults with intellectual disabilities throughout Virginia, including foster parent training, emergency support, case management, and respite care, and a children’s residential program for residents ages 11-17 who need a structured setting to deal with emotional and behavioral challenges.

Blue Ridge Job Corps: 245 W. Main Street, Marion, VA 24354 | 800-733-5627 | Job Corps is a federal program providing job skills training, education (including GED), counseling, and other assistance to 16- to 24-year-olds meeting eligibility requirements (receives public assistance, in foster care, is homeless, receives free or reduced-price lunch, or earns poverty-level income). Room and board are provided for young women, as well as a living stipend and paid transportation to and from home on breaks. Both men and women may commute to the campus. Joy Ranch: 813 Joy Ranch Road, Woodlawn, VA 24381 | PO Box 727, Hillsville, 24343 | 276-236-5578 | Joy Ranch provides a residential home for children ages 5 to 17 who are in crisis, both from foster care and private placements. Children attend local public schools and live in cottages with house parents or in an Independent Living House, where young adults up to age 21 may be served. The Christ-centered, trauma-informed approach provides educational, counseling, and medical supports, as well as opportunities for skills training, home-cooked meals, and more.
