Greater Roanoke Workforce Development Board: serves the Roanoke Valley and Alleghany Highlands to provide a skilled workforce to businesses' current and future demands. RAM House (Roanoke Area Ministries): 824 Campbell Avenue SE, Roanoke, 24016 | 540-345-8850 | Many of our guests are able to do a variety of odd jobs. Our day labor program allows local residents and businesses to hire our guests to work for a reasonable wage. If the work schedule calls for missing lunch (noon) at RAM, we ask that our guests be provided with lunch in addition to their daily wage. More information here.

VAReady Initiative: partners with FastForward and additional partners (such as Sentara College of Health Sciences)  to provide subsidized job training and a $1,000 award to those who receive their credentials. Business partners also offer resources and employment opportunities.

The referral portal connects job seekers to programs that assist them in advancing their career paths and financial independence through training, certification, education, and employment services; a tutorial for using it can be found here.
