Children's Assistive Technology Service (CATS): 12801 Moneta Road, Moneta, 24121 | info@atdevicesforkids.org | 540-493-2285 | Children’s Assistive Technology Service (CATS) provides for the re-use of pediatric rehabilitation equipment and assistive technology devices in Virginia.  CATS serves as a no-cost resource for children with disabilities who need adaptive equipment and whose families have limited resources.

A lending library of books and activities is also available.

Services include group homes, community engagement and support, in-home services, and respite care for adults with intellectual disabilities (Developmental Disability Ministry, or DDM), and HopeTree Academy – a private day school supporting children with emotional and behavioral needs and special education students.

The program, located at Carilion Clinic, serves as a workforce alternative for students in their last year of high school.

Meets 7-8:30 pm, 3rd Wednesday of each month, at Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center, 501 Elm Avenue SW, Roanoke, 24016.

Roanoke City Social Services Child and Adult Protective Services hotline: 540-853-2245 | Complaints of adult abuse, neglect or exploitation are received and screened. Investigations are conducted, and when needed, services are offered to the adult. The department assists in the screening and placement of adults in nursing homes or assisted living centers. The implementation of home health care may also be facilitated.

The department provides an array of specialized services to blind Virginians of all ages to assist them in attaining the skills, confidence and positive outlook that are critical to independence. Our primary focus is to assist blind Virginians in achieving quality employment outcomes. Vocational evaluation, job training, job development, placement, follow-up and other services are provided to assist consumers in obtaining jobs in the public and private sectors. Training for and employment as food service managers and vendors are available in cafeterias, snack bars, and other vending facilities in public and private buildings.
