Literacy and GED Programs

Blue Ridge Job Corps: 245 W. Main Street, Marion, VA 24354 | 800.733.JOBS | Job Corps is a federal program providing job skills training, education (including GED), counseling, and other assistance to 16- to 24-year-olds meeting eligibility requirements (receives public assistance, in foster care, is homeless, receives free or reduced-price lunch, or earns poverty-level income). Room and board are provided for young women, as well as a living stipend and paid transportation to and from home on breaks. Both men and women may commute to the campus. This program serves both non-native English speakers and native-English speakers. Call the BRL office at 540-265-9339 Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm to schedule a registration appointment.

Casa Latina's Plazas Comunitarias: 3110 Pioneer Road NW, Roanoke, 24012 (inside Williamson Road Church of the Brethren) | 540-579-2776 | casalatinarv@gmail.com | Classes for all adult Spanish speakers, ages 15 and older, whose education was interrupted, or for Spanish speakers enrolled in US schools who wish to receive official certification in Spanish. All coursework is in Spanish. Para todos los adultos hispanohablantes mayores de 15 años cuya educación fue interrumpida, o para hispanohablantes inscritos en escuelas de los Estados Unidos que les gustaría recibir una certificación oficial en español. Todos los cursos son completamente en español.
