Arturo Agüero

Manager, Educator Development Center for Educators and Schools, The New York Public Library 

Arturo Agüero is an experienced educator and program manager dedicated to exploring the intersections of language, identity, and culture in education. 

As Manager of Educator Development at the New York Public Library, Arturo designs professional development programs for thousands of teachers annually, including a flagship residency that connects archival collections with contemporary scholarship on topics like multilingualism and intellectual freedom. 

With a background in bilingual education and curriculum design, he has developed culturally responsive resources, including Reading with Pride, an LGBTQ+ children’s literature guide for educators, and educational materials for the Smithsonian’s exhibition ¡Presente! A Latino History of the United States.

Arturo holds an MA in Cultural Studies in Education with a graduate portfolio in LGBTQ Studies from the University of Texas at Austin and is passionate about fostering inclusive spaces where educators and students can explore the stories that affirm identity and belonging.
