Kuniko Simon
Central Library Adult Services Librarian, Buffalo and Erie County Public Library
Born in Japan, Kuniko Simon started living in the U.S. at age 19 as an international student at Erie Community College. Years later, after going on to earn a Master’s in English at the State University of New York at Fredonia and MILS from the University at Buffalo, she started her career as an archivist and special collections catalog librarian. She worked on various independent archival projects and Document Heritage Grants within academic libraries around Western New York for nine years. Since 2016, she has been a public librarian at Buffalo and Erie County Public Library. This year, her first publication was released by Japanese publisher Seikyusha, an interview in the anthology Women’s Manga: Regulation, Freedom and Their Challenges, edited by Fusami Ogi.
