Everything is on Weduc. Weduc is your friend. Gone are the days when a ping caused class bubble-bursting anxiety! Now a ping means something fun / interesting has happened at school and there'll probably be pictures! Very useful for prompting conversations at home that go beyond the standard childrens answer of "good..."
If you need to understand anything about your class, need to check homework / reading requirements etc, speak to your class teacher or teaching assistant at pickup in the playground. They are always happy for a quick word. You can also put a note / question in you child's diary for them to read, you'll get a response!
Where do all those jerseys go? Same place as all those single socks?
No.
There's a large bucket in the tunnel leading to reception that holds all those items that have lost their owner. You will have to rummage through (no sorting system can ever be robust enough to manage lost items) and find any items you may have lost.
Jerseys, PE kit, jackets, bags, lunch boxes, bottles, brothers - it'll all be there....
Please make sure all your clothes are named. Incredibly, the children can identify theirs and their friends clothes by smell alone. I suspect a smell test is something most parents won't wish to do.... a name tag is better....
Have a look at our link to Stamptastic in our shop.
Most classes periodically walk up the Southfields library to engage in the space, read and take out books that they keep in class to read. Its a fun event and one that gets them excited about reading.
Occasional trips to the Church's garden to learn about nature, plants etc
Lunch is taken in shifts. The PTC installed noise absorbing ceiling tiles to make it a pleasant and engaging dining experience. Who are we kidding.... imagine 20 children's parties at the same time....
Joking aside, the school encourages good eating, good table manners and in the early years monitor what's being eaten and encourage children to eat up. The school puts an emphasis engaging with each other during meal times rather than as just a fuelling-up exercise before the next period.
The 2 week rotating menu is available on Weduc. Most families will alternate between school dinners and pack lunch depending on the daily offering and child preferences.
Friday fish day is always a winner!
Pack lunches are eaten in a separate space to maximise school dinner places, so bear this in mind when entertaining the highly complex decision- making-process of a 5 year old when faced with "do you want school dinner today?"
Healthy eating is a school priority - No nuts, no crisps, no junk, - you know the drill.
End of term parties in the park were a thing pre covid. Expected to make a glorious return (weather permitting) an informal class / year / get together in the park for the children to play and the adults to wind down is always a nice end to the term for everyone.
