True Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this; to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” James 1:27

Project TR is a benevolence arm of the River Run Christian Church with a primary mission of helping those in our community who are in need. Currently we have two programs that help us achieve our mission: TR Backpack Program and TR Food Pantry Program.

TR BACKPACK PROGRAM (Service Harbor City and Sherwood Elementary Schools)

More than 21 million children qualify for free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs. In Brevard County, 45% of public school students qualify. For many of these children, school meals may be the only meals they eat. What happens when they go home over the weekend?

The TR Backpack Program was designed to supplement meals for these children - who depend on their school for breakfast and lunch, during the school week. This program provides nutritious, child-friendly, easy-to- prepare food to chronically hungry children.

Lack of access to a nutritious and adequate food supply has implications not only for the development of physical and mental disease, but also behavior and social skills. What a wonderful program for children which:

  • Provides nutrition

  • Eases their anxieties

  • Reduces absenteeism

  • Improves attention span

  • Raises academic performance

  • Increases self esteem

By our partnering with school staff and the local school system, the backpacks are distributed to children in need through the school system—discreetly—each Friday afternoon or before a long holiday weekend.

Our program strives to provide the food they need to be healthy, happy and successful.

TR FOOD PANTRY PROGRAM (Open Mondays 2:00PM-4:00PM)

The Food Pantry typically serves between 150 and 200 households per month and is intended to provide provisions to those who are not able to purchase all the food they need. Jesus fed thousands of his followers during his ministry, having compassion upon them for their hunger. We seek to do the same.

Volunteers weekly purchase food, stock the shelves and then distribute the food during the scheduled pantry hours. Our goal is to help families and individuals in the River Run Christian Church – Brevard area by providing non-perishable food to those in need.

Project TR could not serve those in need without you! We are sourced solely by food and monetary donations and operate with a totally volunteer staff.

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ ” - Matthew 25:34-36
