Some children will benefit from activities to strengthen the pathways between the eyes and the brain (visual perception) and other children will benefit from practising activities which improve the pathways between the ears and the brain (auditory processing). Many of the latter are included in the phonological awareness section. Auditory skills which are not included in that section, such as auditory short-term memory, can be found here.
The following activities need to be printed and then cut out. Give the child a copy of the grid and the letters or colours. Show the child the target grid for five seconds, cover and ask him/her to copy from memory. Please click here for the sheets.
If these activities would support your child's learning you can click here to access.
Use a timer to see how quickly you can track the letters or numbers. Keep a record of you time and try to beat it next time. Click here to find some tracking sheets.
