Speech and Language is an integral part of our lives. Being able to talk and understand people makes it possible to do things like communicate with our families and peers, build relationships, convey our thoughts and learn. Additionally, a child's ability to utilise language and communicate has recently been linked to their overall development in Literacy. Children develop these skills at different rates with some making gains faster than others, but it is important to remember that children begin to understand words and language before they use them.
