For this assignment, I will reflect on what technical skills I gained in CSIT 101.
Before this class, OneDrive always intimidated me and I never knew where I was saving things. Out of frustration, I would just save things to my Desktop because it was "easier to find". As expected, my Desktop looked like, for lack of better words, a hot mess. I tried to organize the desktop as well, but eventually I ran out of room and could never find any files.
During this class, we learned how to connect our computers and other apps to OneDrive, which made things so much easier and allowed me to organize my folders more efficiently. While I still struggle to find things in OneDrive, this class has provided me with more understanding on how it works.
One of the most useful things I've learned throughout this course was the use of the Table of Contents and the automated bibliography in Microsoft Word. If I knew how to do this when I was getting my undergraduate degree, it would have saved me so much time and effort. Not only does it alphabetize it for you, but it also has multiple citation styles already built in. All it requires is the necessary information and it will generate it for you and will also assist with in-text citations at the click of a button.
Coming into the class, I thought that I was decently proficient in using Microsoft Office. I have used Word and Powerpoint all throughout high school and college, but I learned so much about Word, Powerpoint, and OneDrive.
Through the SIMpaths, I have learned how much Word and Powerpoint can do for me, instead of me doing it manually, such as creating an annotated bibliography in Word and the different Presentation and Master Views that are available in PowerPoint.
