THIS QUARTER'S ACTIVITIES
CLASSROOM TECHNOLOGY
Students are not required to use a personal mobile phone, tablet, or computer during class. Paper-and-pencil mathematics remains an important part of this course.
Technology and approved calculators will be used when they improve mathematical understanding or when specifically authorized by the teacher.
1. IN-CLASS PRACTICE — 15%
Students will complete increasingly challenging mathematical problems during class.
Students are expected to:
Maintain organized notes.
Show complete mathematical work.
Use correct mathematical notation.
Analyze equations, functions, tables, and graphs.
Explain mathematical reasoning when required.
Complete and submit work by established deadlines.
2. HOMEWORK & IXL PRACTICE — 15%
Homework may include:
Big Ideas Math
IXL
Teacher-assigned practice
Cumulative review
Preparation for upcoming assessments
Students should use homework to identify what they do and do not understand before taking a quiz or test.
Students should keep written solutions in their mathematics notebook or binder.
3. QUIZZES — 20%
Quizzes will measure students' ability to apply recently learned concepts independently.
They may include:
Equations and inequalities
Functions
Graphs and tables
Mathematical vocabulary
Algebraic manipulation
Modeling and applications
Previously learned concepts
4. MAJOR ASSESSMENTS — 50%
Major assessments may include:

Algebra 2 is cumulative. Students should expect previously learned skills to reappear throughout the course.

Students are responsible for monitoring Schoology and completing assignments by their deadlines.
Repeated missing or incomplete assignments may result in parent/guardian contact, an academic conference, intervention, or other appropriate action.
ALGEBRA 2 GOAL
Students are expected to move beyond memorizing procedures and develop the ability to analyze functions, connect equations with tables and graphs, model real situations, and solve multi-step problems independently.

Students will do online homework, which can be found in the student portal through Schoology.
Students must keep all homework work in their notebook binder.

30% of students' grades are the total average of homework or home practice assignments (Schoology, IXL, and Khan Academy).
Online homework will be assigned through the Schoology platform, 5-day IXL practice (minimum 20 correct problems), and Khan Academy will be assigned for testing preparation. All this will have a weighted average of 30% of the quarterly grade.
The deadline for homework will be 2 days after the lesson has been taught (for GenEd students). Students with accommodations will have extended time to complete them (an additional day without penalty).
Students will take notes in every class.
Students must bring to class: a pencil, paper (graphing paper is recommended), and a calculator (scientific).
All notes must be kept in a binder.
Notebook-Check will be a grade and will count as in-class work.
