**Parents** : Starting September 9th: Tutoring begins Tuesdays & Thursdays from 2:30pm-3:30pm.
How can parents help their children and the math teacher??
Parents must ask the following questions:
What lesson are you on today?
May I see your notes from today's class?
Did you start the homework on your current lesson? (Example: it will say "PRACTICE (with Calc-Chat & Calc-View)"
Can you show me the work of all your exercises and word problems? Because the teacher will check this for your "notebook check."
Did you remember that you must do all the odd numbers in your textbook?
REGARDING IXL DAILY PRACTICE AT HOME.
Did you do your daily 20 correct problems in IXL? How long did it take you to do your 20 correct problems? Did you practice enough to earn ONE SKILL in IXL? Do you practice on skills that you have deficiencies in? Did you read the explanation when you wrote a wrong answer? Did you take notes of your mistake to avoid making the same mistake in the future?
Did you do the "teacher recommended" assignment? Students must do IXL on the current lesson first and then practice on any deficiencies the student may want to improve.
REGARDING HOMEWORK ONLINE (Big Ideas Math):
Did you check if the teacher assigned the online homework on Big Ideas Math (BIM)? Remember, you can find this through Schoology or through this website on the Homepage.
Did you submit your online homework correctly? (You should've seen a grade if you have finished).
If you don't know how to submit an assignment, please watch this tutorial video:

REGARDING STUDYING AT HOME.
THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION: Are you studying after you do your homework? Doing the homework is not studying.
Did you watch the videos on the teacher's lesson presentation on Nearpod.com? Did you take notes? Do they help you in any way?
OTHER QUESTIONS
Have you practiced any problems in the Khan Academy platform?
Have you checked out any resources that the teacher has for you to improve any of your math skills?
Do you need a tutor? Do you want me to ask at school when tutoring will be available?
VERY IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATION:
Tell students NOT to use apps on their phones to do the homework for them. This will not help students learn any topic.
If a student is sick and stays at home, please recommend watching the lesson(s) of the day (posted on the class website page: Algebra 1 & Algebra 2.
