**Parents** : Starting September 9th: Tutoring begins Tuesdays & Thursdays from 2:30pm-3:30pm.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Students are not required to work with a mobile phone, a tablet, or a computer in class. It is only at the teacher's discretion to allow students the use of their phones (example: when the school is conducting a survey).
In-Class Practice (Classwork): Students will complete in-class assignments given by the teacher on paper, with an approved calculator and will work in class (unless instructed otherwise). Assignments will be submitted at the end of the class period. This grade is worth 25% of the student's final quarterly grade.
Homework Practice (Big Ideas textbook): Students are recommended to write all Big Ideas Math Online homework in their notebooks, and the answers may later be done online and will be assigned through Schoology only. This grade is worth 20% of the student's final quarterly grade.
VERY IMPORTANT: Students must meet all online assignment deadlines.
THREE INCOMPLETE ASSIGNMENTS in the same quarter may result in a REFERRAL and/or PARENT CONFERENCE.
IXL Skills should be practiced everyday as followup of every lesson. Students must try to reach 100% on the Smart Score. Students must also WRITE all problems in their notebooks or binders (Strongly recommended to have notes when doing Classwork assignments). IXL Skills Practice will be due the same day Big Ideas Math homework is due (on paper) which will be immediately after the end of each chapter. Failure to meet homework deadlines turning in work on paper will result in a Z without time extension. All work must be done with pencils. Pens or markers of any color will not be accepted. Please, try not to miss any IXL SKILLS PRACTICE homework assignments.
LOGIN TO IXL: Students must go through the STUDENT PORTAL, go to Schoology, select the math class, and click the IXL link on the left margin. If the previously mentioned does not work because the Student Portal Server is down, students may try to access this app on this website on the homepage.
Homework grade: will be the average of Big Ideas Math online assignments and IXL, and will be worth 20% of their quarterly grade.
Short quizzes will be worth 20% of the quarterly grade. This may involve solving problems (showing work), knowing math terms (vocabulary), and understanding concepts.
MAJOR TESTS are worth 45% of students' quarterly grades: There will be Chapter tests, District Topic Tests, and Mid-Year Tests.

Students will do online homework, which can be found in the student portal through Schoology.
Students must keep all homework work in their notebook binder.
Access to the textbook to the Student Portal: (http://www.dadeschools.net/students.asp)
Online homework will be assigned through the Schoology platform (entering Big Ideas Math), 5-day IXL practice (minimum 20 correct daily problems), and/or Khan Academy will be assigned for testing preparation. All this will have a weighted average of 30% of the quarterly grade.
The deadline for homework will be 2 days after the lesson has been taught (for GenEd students). Students with accommodations will have extended time to complete them (an additional day without penalty).
Students will take notes in every class.
Students are responsible for writing the work of all problems done in the Big Ideas Math online homework (there will be random notebook checks).
Students must bring to class: a pencil, paper (graphing paper is recommended), and the required scientific calculator Texas Instrument TI-30xa (scientific). This will be the only calculator accepted for testing.
All notes must be kept in a binder or a Composition Notebook ($1.00 at Walmart). Graphing paper is recommended for graphing.
Classwork worksheets will be provided by the teacher and submitted on the same day. The grade for classwork is 30% of the quarterly grade.
