GEOMETRY
THIS QUARTER'S ACTIVITIES
CLASSROOM TECHNOLOGY
Students are not required to use a personal mobile phone, tablet, or computer during class. Mathematics will primarily be completed using paper and pencil and an approved calculator when appropriate.
Personal electronic devices may be used only when specifically authorized by the teacher.
1. IN-CLASS PRACTICE — 15%
Students will complete regular in-class practice involving calculations, diagrams, constructions, reasoning, and problem solving.
Students are expected to:
Maintain an organized mathematics notebook or binder.
Draw and label diagrams carefully.
Show calculations and mathematical reasoning.
Support answers with appropriate geometric reasoning.
Participate actively in class.
Submit assigned work by the established deadline.
2. HOMEWORK & IXL PRACTICE — 15%
Homework may include Big Ideas Math, IXL, teacher-assigned practice, and cumulative review.
Students should write their mathematical work in their notebook or binder, including diagrams and calculations when appropriate.
IXL is intended to strengthen skills and identify areas needing additional practice. Students should work toward mastery while concentrating on understanding and correcting mistakes, not simply obtaining a particular SmartScore.
3. QUIZZES — 20%
Quizzes may include:
Vocabulary and definitions
Diagrams
Algebraic applications
Geometric reasoning
Coordinate geometry
Proof and justification
Previously learned concepts
Students should be prepared to explain why an answer is correct, not merely identify the answer.
4. MAJOR ASSESSMENTS — 50%
Major assessments may include:
Chapter Tests
District Topic Tests
Cumulative Tests
Mid-Year Assessments
Standards-based assessments
Other major assessments announced by the teacher
Geometry requires students to connect concepts across chapters. Major assessments may therefore contain previously learned material.

In-Class Practice 15%
Homework & IXL 15%
Quizzes 20%
Major Assessments 50%
TOTAL 100%
DEADLINES & MISSING WORK
Students are expected to meet assignment deadlines. Repeated missing or incomplete assignments may result in parent/guardian contact, an academic conference, intervention, or other appropriate action.
GEOMETRY GOAL
Success in Geometry requires more than memorizing formulas. Students must learn to analyze diagrams, recognize relationships, apply algebra, justify conclusions, and solve unfamiliar problems independently.
