Douglas Cumming, J.D., Ph.D., CFA, is a Professor of Finance and the Steven Shulman ’62 Endowed Chair for Business Leadership at the Stevens Institute of Technology School of Business in Hoboken, New Jersey.  Previously, Douglas was the DeSantis Distinguished Professor of Finance and Entrepreneurship at the College of Business, Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida (2018-2025), and Professor and the Ontario Research Chair at the Schulich School of Business, York University, in Toronto, Canada (2007-2018). He has held prior visiting appointments at Essex Business School, Kobe University, EMLyon, RMIT, and University of Bergamo, among others.

Douglas has published over 260 articles in leading refereed academic journals (including 49 in Financial Times top 50 journals) in finance, management, and law and economics, such as the Academy of Management Journal, Economic Journal, Journal of Business, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of International Business Studies, and the Journal of Empirical Legal Studies. 

In November 2022, Douglas was listed by Clarivate as one of the top 92 most cited researchers in the world in the business and economics category.  Douglas' work has been cited over 34,000 times. 

Douglas is the Managing Editor-in-Chief of the Review of Corporate Finance (2021-current) and the Journal of Alternative Investments (2025-current).  He is a former Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Industrial and Business Economics (2021-2024).  He is a former Managing Editor-in-Chief of the British Journal of Management (January 2020 - December 2022) and the Journal of Corporate Finance (January 2018 – December 2020), and Corporate Governance: An International Review (January 2015 - 2023). He is the Founding Editor of Annals of Corporate Governance (January 2016 – January 2020) and a former Co-Editor of Finance Research Letters and Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice. He is currently serving as an Associate Editor for Economic Modelling, European Journal of Finance, Journal of Banking and Finance, Studies in Economics and Finance, and an Editorial Board member of numerous academic journals.

Douglas has published 23 academic books. He is the coauthor of Venture Capital and Private Equity Contracting (Elsevier Academic Press, 2nd Edition, 2013), and Hedge Fund Structure, Regulation and Performance around the World (Oxford University Press, 2013), and Crowdfunding: Fundamental Cases, Facts, and Insights (Elsevier Academic Press, 2019). He is the Editor of the Oxford Handbook of Entrepreneurial Finance (Oxford University Press, 2013), the Oxford Handbook of Private Equity (Oxford University Press, 2013), the Oxford Handbook of Venture Capital (Oxford University Press, 2013), the Oxford Handbook of Sovereign Wealth Funds (Oxford University Press, 2017), the Oxford Handbook of IPOs (Oxford University Press, 2018), and the Oxford Handbook of Hedge Funds (Oxford University Press, 2021), among others.

Douglas is a regular speaker at academic and industry conferences around the world. He has given recent keynote speeches at the ISAFE Conference in Saigon, British Academy of Management Corporate Governance Conference, Entrepreneurial Finance Association, European Financial Management Association, Financial Research Network Corporate Finance Conference, French Finance Association, Infiniti Conference on International Finance, Vietnam Symposium in Banking and Finance, the Budapest Liquidity and Financial Markets Conference, and the Humboldt University of Berlin Fintech Conference, among others.

Douglas’ work has been reviewed in numerous media outlets, including The Economist, The New York Times, the Chicago Tribune, the Wall Street Journal, the Globe and Mail, Canadian Business, the National Post, and The New Yorker.

Douglas keeps active in his spare time by cycling, running, swimming, and snowboarding.  He completed the 2023 Florida Ironman in 13 hours and 6 minutes.

Chelsea Liu is an Associate Professor at The University of Adelaide (Australia) and has held a position as a Visiting Assistant Professor in Finance at the Michael G. Foster School of Business, University of Washington. Chelsea is an Associate Editor of the Australian Journal of Management. Chelsea’s research has been published in leading academic journals in finance and law, including the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Business Ethics, and Journal of Empirical Legal Studies. Chelsea’s research in sustainability, corporate misconduct and litigation, and corporate governance benefits from her industry qualification as a solicitor and barrister in the High Court of Australia and her experience of working in commercial law firms prior to joining academia. Chelsea’s research has a wide reach of professional and policymaker audiences, through her articles in the Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance and Financial Regulation, The Environmental Forum, and The Conversation, her Webinar presentation at the Environmental Law Institute in Washington DC, and media coverage by international outlets, including The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian, Daily Mail, and Environmental Leader. Chelsea has served as a reviewer for 20 refereed academic journals and received recognition as an Outstanding Reviewer for Journal of Corporate Finance and International Journal of Managerial Finance. Chelsea has received multiple Best Paper awards from the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand (AFAANZ). Chelsea serves on the technical committees for the AFAANZ Annual Conference and the Financial Management Association (FMA) Annual Conference.

Silvio Vismara is Professor of Entrepreneurial Finance at the University of Bergamo (Italy). He is Research Fellow at Indiana University (USA) and has held visiting appointments at the University of Ghent (Belgium), University of Augsburg (Germany), Manchester Business School (UK), Cass Business School (UK), University of Florida (USA), University of La Laguna (Spain), among others.

Silvio is Editor of Small Business Economics, Associate Editor of the Financial Review, of the Journal of Technology Transfer, of the Management Review Quarterly, and editorial board member of Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, of Corporate Governance: An International Review, of Venture Capital, and of Journal of Industrial and Business Economics. The research activity of Silvio Vismara has benefited from his experience as a scientific consultant for the Italian Stock Exchange, as a member of the board of directors of the University of Bergamo, as well as a founder of its first academic spin-off company (Universoft).
