A farmer once planted some turnip seeds. "Grow, seeds, grow," he said. And they did. But one turnip grew faster than the rest. It was enormous!
One day the farmer wanted turnip stew. He’d already eaten all the smaller turnips. So, he grabbed the huge turnip and began to pull. And he pulled and he pulled and he pulled on that turnip… BUT…the turnip just would not turn up.
So the farmer asked his wife for help. And the wife pulled on the farmer… who pulled on the turnip. And they pulled and pulled and pulled on the turnip… BUT… that turnip just would not turn up.
The wife fetched the girl and boy next door. The girl pulled the boy, who pulled the wife, who pulled the farmer, who pulled and pulled and pulled on the turnip… BUT… that turnip just would not turn up.
The girl and the boy called for their dog and cat. The dog pulled the cat, who pulled the girl, who pulled the boy, who pulled the wife, who pulled the farmer, who pulled and pulled and pulled on the turnip… BUT… that turnip just would not turn up
The cat meowed for the bird and the mouse. The bird pulled on the mousewho pulled the cat, who pulled the dog, who pulled the girl, who pulled the boy,who pulled the wife, who pulled the farmer, who pulled and pulled and pulled on the turnip… BUT…that turnip just would not turn up!
Along came a ladybug. She reached out and gave the mouse’s tail a tiny tug. And do you know what happened? The earth cracked, and pop! AND… The turnip DID turn up!
That night what they’d worked so hard for, finally happened! The ladybug, the bird, the mouse, the cat,the dog,the girl, the boy,the wife, and the farmer, ALL of the people turned up! And they all dined on the tastiest turnip stew ever imagined. And they ate and ate and ate until their belly’s – and their lives – were completely full.
