In this module, after the assessment of the historical water quality data at different points of the system, the hazard identification both for water quality and events and the establishment of risks within the system, it is time to address these risks and the Critical Control Point derived from them, determining:
Preventive measures
Given the particularity of water reuse systems, preventive measures may vary or not be suitable for certain cases. The user is advised to revise the information and use it based on their expertise.
Apart from general guidance for preventive measures, a detailed technology summary for tertiary water treatment processes is provided including pros and cons of the presented technologies, associated risks, by-product generation, energy consumption, OPEX (Operational expenditures). This detailed summary, is intended to equip the user with further information to make more effective decisions for its water reuse system
Monitoring and controlling approaches
Following the risk assessment from steps 3-6 and the establishment of preventive measures, this section of the tool provides the user with the monitoring and controlling approaches that can be taken to reduce the risks that have been identified previously either for water quality or hazardous events.
This section has two components; a technical guide that details protocols, approaches, indicators, targets, and requirements to equip the user with relevant information to make more effective decisions for its water reuse system. And a template to organize this information, noting the relevant fields that should be considered in the Water Reuse Risk Management Plan (WRRMP).
