Maximizing Language Instruction
To Support Students' Reading and Writing Development
To Support Students' Reading and Writing Development
Language comprehension is an inherent component of the simple view of reading, but why does it matter and how can we approach it in our instruction? In this session, we will explore the following questions: How does oral language fit into literacy? What are conversational turns and how can we increase them? What is book language and why does it matter?
Although oral language skills are often discussed in the context of young learners, the impact of oral language does not end there. As such, content from this session will be applicable across a range of student ages.
