Sleater-Kinney: Little Rope (1/27/2024)

Sleater-Kinney: Little Rope [Loma Vista, 2024] The overkill of noise is intense, guitars, drums, and a whole bunch of synths too. Unfortunately, since Twisted Fantasy came out, production has been ever-important in the music industry, and this does not compensate for the lack of interest here. Save for the opening and closing explosions, “Hell” and “Untidy Creature,” and possibly “Say It Like You Mean It,” there’s a whole lot of noise and a whole lot of nothing much else. What made No Cities To Love the greatest reunion album of all time isn’t here. The pain is there, but the fun isn’t. [5.0/10]
