Minor Threat: First Two 7"s (1/28/2024)

Minor Threat: First Two 7"s [Dischord, 1984] If the Pistols were the major threat, railing against authority and frankly humanity itself, these guys are the Minor Threat, talking about what matters. The songs here deal with ego, arguments in friendships, and the "straight edge" lifestyle they created in only a minute of music. Despite the profanity and the heavy song topics, First Two 7"s is comparable to, let's say, Meet The Beatles! in its ability to shoot classics at us at breakneck speed. "I can't keep up, out step with the world!" Ian Mackaye screams through my player's speakers. Good for him. Had he been in step, these guys could have been the next Duran Duran. [7.5/10]
